Medicine man

Article Abstract:

Ken Minton, the latest chairman of Mowlem, wants to improve the poor relationships currently experienced in the construction industry between the contractor and their clients. He has come from a manufacturing background and believes that his experience will be useful to this end. Minton dropped the Bautec part of the organisation during the first six months of his directorship because they were losing money and reorganised the rest of the company. Acquisitions, though small, are expected during the next 2-3 years.

Failed coal sale clouds Costain rescue

Article Abstract:

UK contractor Costain has managed to obtain shareholder approval for a 73 million pounds sterling rescue plan. However, it has at the same time seen the collapse of a deal to sell its US coal business. It is hoping to deflect attention from this failure, and is now focusing on obtaining new business from property developers and retailers in order to increase its turnover in the UK.
