The expertise of Italian engineers resulted in many inventions in ground consolidation techniques, which are deployed in both domestic and international tunnel construction purposes. Varied ground consolidation techniques for underground construction are described.

Spray it or precast it? - comparing primary support methods

A comparative analysis of the usage of sprayed concrete or pre-cast concrete for tunnel lining purpose is presented. Contractors have to pay attention to many considerations in the selection of a support lining system.
