The vice is tight

Article Abstract:

The seventh Building Gallup poll of the construction industry in January 1995 reveals that fewer contractors are confident of the construction recovery than in the last poll in June 1994. The majority of contractors predict rises in material prices, but fear that they will not be able to increase their own tender prices to compensate. Overall, the construction industry believes that the recovery will continue but will lag behind the general economic revival.

Costain continues sell-off talks after failing to find single buyer

Article Abstract:

Costain has been unable to find a purchaser for its entire business, but still hopes to be able to sell off its engineering and construction division. It is thought that up to six construction-related concerns are negotiating with Costain about purchasing the division, while the coal and property business will be retained. The news that the group will not be sold as a single entity led to a strong fall in its share price.
