Article Abstract:

Quantity surveyors are expected to be awarded a small salary increase in 1995 of just over 2.6%, while architects's salaries are expected to rise less than 2.6%. Some architectural firms have not given a pay rise at all for some years because of the recession. Companies have little need to increase wages as the job market is oversupplied, while many companies appear to be swapping salary information in order to maintain consistency throughout the industry. Company cars and many other perks previously offered to attract staff have now been withdrawn.

At home with your bank

Article Abstract:

There are now a wide range of home banking systems available in the UK, and these have generally proved very popular with users. Some offer only limited services, such as paying bills and checking account balances, while others are more sophisticated. Some operate via a conventional phone line, while others run on the customer's personal computer. The cost of home banking services can vary considerably, so it is worth checking charges such as annual or monthly fees before going ahead.

Project evaluation for sustainable rural development: Plan Sierra in the Dominican Republic

Article Abstract:

The criteria of economic feasibility, sustainability and acceptability were combined in a project appraisal methodology for a watershed development project in the Dominican Republic. Feasibility, acceptability and sustainability were measured in terms of the project's effects on change in sustainable income, change in average annual income and the differences between the two changes, respectively. The three criteria may be achieved via tax and subsidy schemes.
