Many households would save money by switching their telephone service from BT. Services from Mercury and cable companies are cheaper than BT's basic costs. Cable companies Bell CableMedia, Diamond Cable, Nynex, Telewest, Telecential and Cambridge Cable are cheaper than even BT's discounted rates.
