Article Abstract:

A test of nine dishwashers revealed that two models can be recommended as best buys. The Bosch SGS 5302 has more programs than other machines, it can be economical in usage as the economy program performed reasonably well, and it is a reliable machine. This model costs 440 pounds sterling. The Siemens SE 24201, at 370 pounds sterling, is cheaper. It has fewer features than the Bosch, but it performs well and is reasonably reliable. Two other models, the Whirlpool Creations ADP 9520/2 and the Hotpoint Aquarius DF61, performed well, but the reliability of the brands is poor.

Article Abstract:

A survey established which dishwashers are the most reliable. Space limitations require slim machines taking eight place-settings, which cost approximately the same as full-size 12 place-setting models. The EC 'eco label' will be launched in 1993 to demonstrate energy and water efficiency. Assessment of dishwashers up to six years old found that one in six needed repair in 1992.

Table-top and slimline dishwashers are evaluated. The Bosch SRS 4012GB and Bosch SK5002GB are identified as Best Buys, based on cleaning, ease of use, time take, water consumption and electricity usage.
