The only manufacturer of color solid ink printers is Tektronix, with machines aimed at the pre-press and business markets. Prices range from just under 2,300 pounds sterling to 4,400 pounds sterling. The Tektronix Phaser 350, priced at 2,295 pounds sterling, is worth considering. It has impressive paper handling and supports Adobe Postscript Level 2, ICM, Adobe, Pantone and AppleSynch color matching standards. The budget-conscious machine has 24MB of RAM and there is an optional Ethernet card. Other color solid ink printers are evaluated.

The Seiko ColorPoint 835ps printer has 28 MB of random access memory and holds 100 sheets. The Fargo Primera Pro printer costs 1,645 pounds sterling and is supplied with an optional Apple interface.
