High volume copiers have many sophisticated features, most designed to increase productivity and enhance presentation. Factors that may affect the speed of the copier include paper size, document handling and reduction enlargement capabilities. Nearly all high volume copiers are equipped with a standard document feeder, most offer sorter capabilities, and some makers offer document feeders that can be configured with an offset catch tray. The main features of high volume copiers are discussed.

High volume copiers have many add-on capabilities, some more useful than others. Almost all machines offer reduction enlargement facilities, some with a high degree of accuracy. Some high volume copiers feature a border erase facility that allows marks around the edge of the copy to be erased. Other capabilities offered include dual-original copying, overhead transparency interleaving, copy editing and copy auditing.
