An explanation and help related with fees charged by the banks when the overdraft limits on credit card is exceeded or late payment of credit card bills is offered. Legally these high charges could be unenforceable and banks often refund charges before cases get to court and most of the banks do not give valid justification for their high charges believing that their charges are reasonable and competitive compared with the industry.

The rates and charges of unauthorized overdraft of various banks are given. Banks charged around 3 billion pounds for unauthorized overdrafts in the year 2003. The Banking Code Standards Board (BCSB) considers that banks must notify the customers before charging the unauthorized overdraft fees. The cost of the unauthorized overdraft of different banks is compared.
