Food of the future

Article Abstract:

The progress and food products produced by biotechnology are causing concern for a number of reasons, says the Consumers' Association of the United Kingdom. The food manufacturing process creates a new product which may contain material that is unhealthy or dangerous. New products are often tested through the Government's Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes, although this process is not compulsory and the tests do not test processing aids. Concerns about increasing resistance to antibiotics are also discussed.
