The New Top Man

Article Abstract:

Alan Hardcastle, a Peat Marwick Mitchell senior partner, took office as the new president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in December 1983. He is concerned with consistency in the organization, furthering already stated goals. He desires to continue efforts in assisting small businesses. Advertising and publicity will remain one of the major issues. He believes that time should be taken to carefully consider current cost accounting before standards are changed, especially with the decreasing inflation rate. Training should be thorough and include on-the-job training. The creation of a director general position would cause duplication of duties already performed by the president and secretary of the Institute.
