Market moves

Article Abstract:

High volume copiers are amongst the most expensive pieces of office equipment, with prices ranging from 8,000 pounds sterling upwards. Developments in the sector are slow, with digital photocopiers being the most important technological advance, but their high price means that they remain a niche market. Modern high volume copiers are becoming more compact and they have a wider range of features, with speeds ranging from 70 copies per minute to 90 copies per minute. The increasing use of laser printers could result in a decrease in demand for such copiers.

Cleaning up

Article Abstract:

Sales of photocopiers in the UK rose by 9.5% in volume terms in 1994 from 1993, with a particular increase for personal compiers, where sales were up 21% in volume. There is very strong price competition, especially in the mini and personal sectors. There are a number of important factors to take into account when considering which photocopier to buy. These include the speed of the document feeder, the number of features available and the price of consumables.

What you need

Article Abstract:

The most important point to consider when buying a photocopier is to decide on what copy speed is required and work out what kind of work the copier will need to undertake. Other points to consider are document production and the most efficient way to organise it. In some cases, two low-volume machines may be more useful than one high-volume machine.
