Phone prefix codes

Article Abstract:

There are now many different phone prefix codes in operation in the UK, but little information is available about the price or type of service associated with each code. Many companies use numbers with local rate codes to cut the cost to customers, while others use numbers with national rate codes so that their regional offices can all have the same number. Premium rate numbers, which are mainly used for information, are more expensive than ordinary inland calls.

Mobile phone health scare

Article Abstract:

There have been some indications that there may be a link between the microwaves produced by mobile phones and both cancer and Alzheimer's disease. However, no firm evidence has yet emerged on this issue. Concerns about possible health implications for mobile phone uses have prompted Microshield Industries to launch a plastic sleeve which reduces the phone's ability to radiate microwaves.

Make more of your phone

Article Abstract:

Call return is a free service offered by British Telecom, which enables you to find out the number of the last person to ring you, by simply dialling 1471. For a cost of 7 pounds sterling per quarter particular numbers, outgoing, or international calls can be blocked on your phone. Three-way calling costs only 4 pounds per quarter, and enables three of you to talk on one line.
