Digital TV - the real picture

Article Abstract:

Digital television will be introduced in the United Kingdom in 1999 and users will require a special receiver costing about 200 pounds sterling. Satellite broadcasting company BSkyB is subsidising the cost these receivers. They are expected to use three times as much electricity as basic televisions because they will have to be kept on standby. Current satellite dishes may not get digital reception. Digital picture and sound quality will not necessarily be better than analogue television.

Party shots

Article Abstract:

Half the compact cameras sold in the UK are now Advanced Photographic System (APS) models. These cameras are generally small and light, and are able to take pictures in three shapes. More advanced models record information on the film about the conditions when the photograph was taken. The best APS autofocus camera is the Minolta Vectis 100BF, while the best APS superzoom is the Fujifilm Fotonex 400ix Zoom MRC. The best 35mm autofocus model is the Vivitar BV85.
