Article Abstract:

Plain-paper facsimile machines are available in several different technologies, namely inkjet, thermal transfer, LED and laser. Most basic machines are based on thermal transfer technology which produces lower quality copy than LED or laser machines. The inkjet market is expected to account for nearly 50% of all plain-paper machines purchased in the U.K. by the end of the century and are suitable for low-volume work. Laser and LED equipment is highly-priced and is targeted at the high-end user.
