Selling your car: A bit of time and effort could dramatically increase how much you get for your car

It is important when selling a car to get the price right, and there are several monthly price guides available. Selling a care to a dealer will not always yield the best price, but it can be more convenient than selling privately. Four cars were valued by an expert and several dealers were asked what they would offer. Prices were found to vary and certain models may be reject by dealers altogether. If selling privately advertising in the local paper may be the obvious choice. There are also national newspapers, car magazines, trading and free-ads papers and the internet.

It is important that car buyers test drive any car before buying it to make sure that they are happy with the way it handles and there is nothing that they are unhappy with. There may be manufacturers' web sites on the Internet which will give more information. It is unusual to have to pay the full list price for a new car and 5%-10% discount is normal. Customers should visit other dealers if they are not given a discount. They should also know the value of any car they are trading in so they get a fair offer for it.
