Article Abstract:

There are three main speech recognition software packages available in the UK, produced by Kurzweil, IBM and Dragon, with prices ranging from 495 pounds sterling to around 1,189 pounds sterling. The most user-friendly of the three is the Kurzweil Voice 2.5, which achieves good recognition levels and is easy to install. DragonDictate for Windows 2.1 and IBM VoiceType 3.0 are also evaluated.
