The traveller's guide to spending

Article Abstract:

There are many ways for travellers to pay their way when on holiday, including cash, credit cards and cheques. It is wise to take a combination of different types of money, although cash should be limited to around 200 pounds sterling. Costs are attached to whichever type of holiday money is used, determined by factors such as exchange rates, credit card fees and commission fees. A guide to choosing the best combination of holiday money is presented, plus a country-by-country guide to the most popular holiday destinations.

Brand surprise - an insider guide

Article Abstract:

Many own-label healthcare products are identical to the branded version, and a BT answering machine may have been made by Panasonic. Other top names, such as Baxters, Campbells and Del Monte make supermarket own label goods, and Heinz produces economy own-label baked beans for Sainsbury's Kwik Save and Tesco. Many electrical goods makers are part of larger parent groups, and many put their own name on products made by other, often well known companies.

Lookalikes

Article Abstract:

Branded goods manufacturers are getting angry about supermarkets and other retailers copying the designs of their products. However, consumers are not easily fooled by the copycat designs. Only 3% of shoppers bought a lookalike or a brandname product unintentionally. A significant 37% of shoppers believed brands to be better than their lookalikes.
