VCRS on test

Article Abstract:

The Akai VS-G215EK, priced at 230 pounds sterling, is one of six video cassette recorders (VCRs) recommended in an evaluation of 26 standard and Nicam Hi-Fi VCRs. Other standard VCR recommendations include the Akai VS-G415EK, the Sharp VC A72HM, the JVC HR-J415EK, and the Goodmans VP2300. Of the Nicam Hi-Fi models, the JVC HR-J715EK, priced at 470 pounds came out tops, along with the Mitsubishi M50V.

Mid-price VCRs

Article Abstract:

The Philips VR457 ($399) ranked highest in a test of 14 VCRs in the $349-$399 price range. It features good still playback and slow-motion, remote controls that can light-up for night use, front AV input and easy timer recording. The LG T493H ($359) also scored well. Tips on shopping for a VCR are included.

The main criteria to look for when purchasing a stereo VCR are price and ease-of-use. Twelve models ranging in price from $599-$799 were tested. The three top-rated models were: the $699 Mitsubishi HS-651VA, the $740 Panasonic NV-HD600MK2A and the $645 Sanyo VHR-690.
