What's my line: the telephone is the lifeblood of any business

Article Abstract:

The telecommunications market in the UK is one of the most dynamic and competitive in the world, and 15 years of deregulation has transformed the market, with rivals to BT offering cut price calls and launching value added services. There have been business acquisitions and mergers, including BT/MCI and Cable and Wireless Communications. A report looks at the methods of network connection, discusses the long distance vs local issue and considers market regulation. It looks at the impact of global deregulation, the growth of cable and the continuous improvements to network technology. Finally it reviews various telecommunications network operators and their services, including AT&T, BT and Colt, and provides a glossary of terms.
