France: New capacity for Atac

Article Abstract:

Atac, the supermarket branch of the Auchan group, invested FFr 66mn in a 35,000 square metre logistics centre at the Amiens Espace Industriel Nord, in the Somme departement. The new centre was inaugurated in mid-September 2001, and it supplies 75 supermarkets from the Calvados departement to the Marne departement. The centre has a railroad branch line, and it handles drinks, canned products and dry products. One trailer supplies one store, because of the size of the stores to be supplied. The centre has Atac's software for receiving orders through computerised data exchanges.

France/Germany: Rouge & Blanc selects logistic partners

Article Abstract:

The French wine Internet retailer, Rouge & Blanc has selected Geodis Logistics for the management of storage and order preparation in its Toulouse platform in France, while Denkhaus Versand Logistik will manage the German unit in Stuttgart. This logistics contract should help Rouge & Blanc increase its sales to companies (company gifts), and commit itself to three-day delivery in Europe (even for one single bottle).

France: Easydis' projects

Article Abstract:

Easydis, the logistics subsidiary of the French retail group Casino, intends to make 30% of its turnover from other food industries, durable goods, and specialised retail companies. Easydis also plans to develop its copacking operations which began in July 2001 and which makes a turnover of EUR 2.29mn.
