FRANCE: A LIGHT PET BOTTLE

Article Abstract:

The PDG Plastics company, which makes 80% of its turnover in performed products in polyethylene terephthalate (PET), has produced a 26-gram PET bottle for 1.5 litres of contents, by using the Sidel SBO 8 series 2 blow-moulding machine. This cut in weight is also makes it possible to reduce the cost price of pre-formed products. The average weight of a PET 1.5 litre bottle for mineral water is between 36 and 39 grams.

FRANCE: LAWSON MARDON MORIN'S EXPECO

Article Abstract:

The French company Lawson Mardon Morin has introduced Expeco, a packaging film for soft cheeses such as camembert and brie. This film, made with the polymer extrusion-coating on paper technique, provides better control for ripening these cheeses. Expeco may be able to replace the standard cellulose film associated with paper thanks to the control of water vapour and oxygen transmission.
