Assessing the sensitivity of Canada's ecosystems to climatic change

Article Abstract:

Middle and higher altitude countries are more prone to the effects of global warming. Ecosystems of countries such as Canada may be disrupted due to the ensuing climatic change. Research was undertaken to assess the sensitivity of Canada's ecosystem to climatic change through the use of classificaton functions and process oriented and general circulation models. The results show that continued global warming will result in major changes in Canada's ecological boundaries and the distribution of its ecosystems, therefore necessitating further research on the implications of global warming.

Crying no wolf: why economists don't worry about climate change, and should

Article Abstract:

An evaluation is presented of assumptions on which many contemporary climate-economy models are based, along with reasons why they fail to address critical environmental needs. Topics include abatement, autonomous energy efficiency, cost, discounting, emissions trajectory, and funding, with calculations estimating that the average climate-economy model currently in use has only a 3.125% likelihood of being correct.

The use of global warming potentials in the Kyoto Protocol

Article Abstract:

Japan's impending enactment of the Kyoto Protocol is examined, focusing on how the protocol attempts to deter global warming by limiting the emission of hazardous gases. Topics include the negative environmental effects of carbon dioxide emissions, and government standards of acceptable emissions.
