Discussion on continental eclogites and the Wilson Cycle

Article Abstract:

The role of lithology and fluids in the metamorphic parageneses must first be clarified before collision orogens are fully understood. These relationships are important in explaining various aspects of collision orogens such as crustal thickness, orogenic uplift and collapse, seismic velocity, exhumation of deep crust and exposure of high P-rocks. The incorporation of the rheological properties of an eclogitized crust into models of continent collision zones are significant in understanding the Wilson cycle.

Discussion on quaternary sea-level change on the continental shelf of Hong Kong

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the hypothesis proposed by J.A. Fyfe and associates was conducted. They proposed the possibility of a direct correlation between the sequence stratigraphy of Hong Kong and the European sequence based on high-sampled boreholes. Results show that there are at least five problems with the hypothesis in addition to the flaw encountered with the use of representative seismic profiles of the Quaternary offshore sediments of Hong Kong.
