Article Abstract:

The criticism of the two-stage model for the origin of the Chumstick data given by Samuel Y. Johnson is incorrect. He bases his views on the age of the base of the Swauk and Chuckanut Formations, rather than on the Chumstick Formation. Johnson disregards his own hypothesis of strike-slip tectonic effect. Data on radiometric dates from the gold mines near Wenatchee support the two-stage model. The Chumstick basin is an extensional basin that has been changed by syndepositional and post-depositional oblique slip.

Article Abstract:

Null hypothesis in explaining Valle Group paleomagnetism seems the best present-day methodology in providing insight on the major Baja California geological translation. This notion reveals the flawed manner of reports on structural changes in the Vale Group made by William R. Dickinson and Robert F. Butler.
