Simultaneous presence of orbital inclination and eccentricity in proxy climate records from Ocean Drilling Program Site 806: comment and reply

Article Abstract:

Oxygen isotope and coarse fraction (CF) data gathered from an equatorial site in the western Pacific reflect dominance by a 100 ka signal component stemming from orbital forcing and that distinct spectral peaks exhibited in the CF data are related to local Milankovitch forcing. Critics argue, however, that the 100 ka signal may have been triggered by ice-bedrock interactions or carbon cycle implications and not solely by the orbital forcing theory. Furthermore, it is imperative to consider the signal-to-noise ratio prior to determining the effect of colored noise.

A fossil record full of holes: the Phanerozoic history of drilling predation: reply

Article Abstract:

Division of the history of drilling predators in the Phanerozoic into three major phases has been disputed by other authors on the basis of taphonomic bias, interpretation of frequency data and identification of holes. The one point the other group presented, the finding that drilling frequencies were not uniformly low in the Jurassic, is not adequate to disprove the proposed model.

Reversal of the regional-scale flow system of the Williston basin in response to Pleistocene glaciation

Article Abstract:

The flow system existing during Pleistocene glaciation of the Williston basin in Manitoba suggests modern pressure distributions may not be reliable substitutes for ancient petroleum pathways. This region experienced a large enough influx of fresh water to reverse the regional-scale flow.
