Structural evolution of an arc-basin: the Gravina Belt in Central Southeastern Alaska

Article Abstract:

The Gravina belt is located along the eastern line of the Alexander terrane in southeastern Alaska. The upper Middle Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous belt is composed of turbidities and mafic to intermediate volcanic rocks. Belt deformation occurred in mid to Late Cretaceous period when a basin of undetermined size closed between the Alexander and Stikine terranes. Thus, the belt exhibits the general characteristics of the Alexander terrane in its structure.

Tectonics of short-lived intra-arc basins in the arc-continent collision terrane of the Coastal Range, eastern Taiwan

Article Abstract:

Stratigraphic and sedimentological analysis in tandem with studies of igneous rock geochemistry reveal the juxtaposed presence of two deformed intra-arc basins on the Neogene Chimei and Chengkuangao volcanic islands in the Coastal Range of eastern Taiwan. Basin size, location, stratigraphy, continuity and deformation patterns are the factors which distinguish these two intra-arc basins from the three forearc basin sequences in the region.
