... Federal Supreme Court ruling

Article Abstract:

The Federal Supreme Court of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has affirmed the decision of a local court involving legal jurisdiction over foreigners performing business in the country. The controversy stemmed from a case filed by a local company asking a foreign entity for payments regarding services rendered on a foreign-owned vessel. The Federal Supreme Court based its ruling on Article 21(7) of the Code of Civil Procedure and Article 82 of the Civil Code, which states that the place where a foreigner conducts his business automatically becomes his place of residence.
