A new criterion for technical efficiency measures: Non-monotonicity across dimensions axioms

Article Abstract:

The issue of dimensionality on mathematical programming technologies was examined by defining the conventional radial and non-radial efficiency measures. The first definition is associated with changes in specification which resulted in nested technologies. This and the second definition require an efficiency measure for its various insensitivity changes. It was concluded that the sensitivity for specific changes in production technology's dimensionality can be guaranteed for only some technical efficiency measures.

Technical efficiency of for-profit and non-profit nursing homes

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine technical efficiency of for-profit and non-profit nursing homes. The study applies data envelopment analysis to determine general efficiency indices of specific nursing homes. Analysis shows that indices generate factors other than efficiency. Results show that for-profit homes demonstrate higher efficiency levels and a better efficient production frontier than non-profit homes.

Managerial efficiency, managerial succession and organizational performance

Article Abstract:

A study on managerial efficiency in college basketball showed that the high winning percentage of a team, not efficiency, is the key factor in ascertaining managerial retention. The value of winning is underscored by the finding that even extremely competent managers can lose their jobs if they do not post a win. However, a more proper guide to hiring decisions is a study of relative efficiency.
