The crane industry appears to have good prospects in Asia, although the market has slowed down. Before the boom in the early 1990s, when Asia became the trade center for this equipment, used crane sales supported the sector. Asiagroup Sdn. Bhd. (Malaysia) is an example of a local crane business that has recently done well. Sales rather than flexible rentals still dominate in Malaysia, unlike in Hong Kong. Innovation in finance and cracking the rental business in Malaysia helped as did the Singapore market. Other companies with representative stories include Douglas (Singapore), TCJ (Bangkok), Proficiency, Manta and Peninsula Engineering (all Hong Kong).

It was in 1935 when Tiny Worthington of Cape Cod, MA, got the idea while at her husband's fish plant that the fishnets would make nice looking curtains. Cape Cod Fishnet Industries was born, and soon fishnet was a fashion rage that was featured in national fashion magazines.
