Analysis of India's policy reforms

Article Abstract:

A 34-sector computable general equilibrium model was utilized in order to assess the effects of economic reforms on factor prices, output, trade, and the movement of resources among different areas in the Indian economy. The said macroeconomic reforms were initiated in 1991 to afford the country greater competitiveness in the global market. Results reveal the reforms to have the potential to increase GDP by some 5% along with improved real profits in the agricultural sector.

The Political Economy of Reforming the Anti-dumping Laws

Article Abstract:

It is argued that the best approach for implementing anti-dumping reform is through removing administrative practices that unfairly treat groups that are not directly involved participants in the petitioning process. The author cautions that acceptance may be necessary for circumstances in which efficiency objectives must be trumped by petitioners' equity concerns.

A Centennial of Anti-dumping Legislation and Implementation: Introduction and Overview

Article Abstract:

The introduction to the symposium begins with the anti-dumping law adopted by the government of Canada in 1904, assesses potential reforms to anti-dumping legislation, examines the political aspects of such laws, and posits that although trade would benefit from the repeal of anti-dumping laws, repeals are unlikely due to political and public pressure.
