As AG chemical patents expire, market players adapt

Article Abstract:

Monsanto Co's patent for glyphosate, the active ingredient in the company's world-famous Roundup herbicide product, is expiring in the US in 2000. This early, companies such as Dow AgroSciences, Novartis Crop Protection, Nufarm, Micro Flo Co and Cheminova already have existing licensing deals that will permit them to market their own glyphosate herbicides. New glyphosate herbicides for cotton and soybeans will be available in Oct 1999 while those for corn will hit the market in Oct 2000.

GROWMARK chairman industed into Coopertive Hall of Fame

Article Abstract:

GROWMARK Inc Chmn and Pres Glenn Webb has been inducted into the Cooperative Hall of Fame in ceremonies held at the National Press Club in Washington DC. The award, established by the National Cooperative Business Assn in 1974, honors individuals whose contributions to the cause of cooperatives are described to be really heroic. GROWMARK CEO Bill Davisson, who made the presentation, cited the honoree's past achievements during the ceremony.
