Causes and effects of the European monetary crises of 1992-93

Article Abstract:

The crises in the European Monetary System (EMS) from Sep. 1992 to Aug. 1993 can be elucidated either by the exchange rate determination model or by difficulties in the balance of payments. A major impact of the crises is the delay in the process of attaining the European Monetary Union (EMU) which has been laid out from the Delors Report in Apr. 1989 to the Maastricht negotiations on Dec. 1991. Nevertheless, the European Union countries are returning to the established path towards EMU.

National governance and European integration: intergovernmental relations in Germany

Article Abstract:

International economic integration in the European market has been a primary component of EU Member State governance. Intergovernmental relations are strongly affected by changes in national political systems. Such integration exhibited major effects on Federal-Lander and inter-Lander relations in Germany. Since the integration affirmed German federal systems, the process has not been equated with total transformation of governance systems.

Review article: European integration as a field of study in Denmark

Article Abstract:

The Danish Society for European Research was geared toward research on the status of European integration. Social sciences research in Denmark was marked by the absence of intellectual constraints pervading other countries with EC research. Danish theoretical studies have centered on reconsideration and application. In addition, Denmark research has suffered from the absence of law and history in theoretical development.
