Challenging changes

Article Abstract:

Fast-changing business models are the thing information technology (IT) managers should focus on instead of fast-changing technology. IT managers need to see that systems can shape organizational structure rather than being shaped by it. New business opportunities on the Internet will cause companies to succeed and IT managers should be the ones to convince companies that replicas of old sales processes are not needed there. Successful companies will extend the browser concept in the company, use the Internet and remember that the year 2000 is of utmost importance in IT.

PC concerns

Article Abstract:

Computer and software companies are in pursuit of saving the user money. In Jan 1997, the Gartner Group estimated that PC ownership in a client-server company could run as much as $50,000 to $65,000 over a five-year period. This provides computer companies an incentive to adopt some type of network-centric, thin client model. Companies can further save money by switching to Energy Star machines that save as much as 30% in electricity.
