Collective Goods, Common Agency, and Third-Party Intervention

Article Abstract:

A common agency problem arises when an agent's efforts in contributing to public goods are unobservable, producing a third-best outcome based on free riding, competitive interests, and agency costs. Remedies involve multiple policies, unlike common agency or public good problems occurring separately.

Fuzzy Targeting Indices and Orderings

Article Abstract:

A membership function is used to identify households as poor or non-poor in the construction of social programs, drawing from fuzzy sets theory. A test of the method's targeting performance is also included.
