Combating corruption in international business: OECD Convention signed

Article Abstract:

Member states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) conform to policies adopted by the Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions. The convention is in response to the growing awareness of the ill effects of bribery and corruption on economic development for both developing and developed countries. Participants have to impose legal sanctions to offenders. Penalties will include temporary or permanent disqualification from engaging in any commercial activities, fines and imprisonment.

Gettysburg battle

Article Abstract:

A National Park Service development plan has been curtailed by opposition from two preservation groups for the Gettysburg National Military Park. Robert Kinsley, a private developer, proposed spending $40 mil on a visitor center and museum for the Park Service's painting of Pickett's Charge. Supporters of the plan believe the design of the museum will allow for better preservation of the park's collection of 43,000 artifacts.

Interactive omnivores

Article Abstract:

Many big advertisement firms are becoming interested in forming alliances with interactive media firms. This marks a crucial point for media firms as it will give them access to capital to expand. There is some concern about losing identity. However. Omnicon's purchase of 40% of Razorfish and its subsequent acquisition of Avalanche Systems are seen as positive signs. Razorfish has benefitted from the alliance.
