Conformity, replication of design and business niches

Article Abstract:

The tendency of firms to conform with existing procedures and organizational designs bestows on dominant firms an advantage despite the existence of alternative procedures that may be as efficient as those advocated by incumbents. This situation may make alternative and nonconformist organizations decide to specialize in a certain sphere or aspect of business. Examples are labor-managed corporations and those catering to the ethnic population.

Alternative disciplinary mechanisms in different corporate systems

Article Abstract:

The world's corporate systems can be categorized as market-oriented systems or as network-oriented systems. Market-oriented systems have strong financial market backgrounds, follow distributed ownerships and hold open active markets for corporate control. Network-oriented systems are dominated by closely held firms and financed substantially by universal banks. Optimal economic organization is achieved by combining the merits of both systems.

Experience and inventory management in double-auction markets

Article Abstract:

Double-auction markets with inexperienced traders have traditionally been associated with efficiency in market organizations and approach competitive equilibrium conditions. However, these positive conditions are eliminated when complex production and low cost inventory controls are integrated. Even the inclusion of more experienced traders into such a situation fails to improve the double-auction market.
