Delivered pricing, FOB pricing, and collusion in spatial markets

Article Abstract:

Price discrimination and collusion are discussed from the viewpoint of both delivered pricing and FOB pricing. Delivered pricing is seen as monopolistic and collusive by some entities such as the Federal Trade Commission. On the other hand, it is regarded by others as possessing a very competitive aspect. Based on evidence, delivered pricing is ideal for highly monopolistic and highly competitive firms where spatial considerations count. FOB pricing, on the other hand, is the equilibrial or optimal pricing policy for intermediate markets.

Collusion in auctions with externalities

Article Abstract:

The presence of informational symmetries in an auction does not prevent the removal of competitive bidding when buyers collude. Such collusion becomes ineffective when externalities are present, where a buyer gains more even if a competitor wins in bidding. Better results other than a ring-efficient outcome are possible for the seller with market externalities, since restrictions to participation are nontrivial.

International price discrimination in the European car market

Article Abstract:

Prices of cars in Europe are examined by developing an oligopoly model to determine if international price discrimination affects the issue. The three sources of international price discrimination examined include price elasticities, import quota constraints and collusion. Findings indicate that international price discrimination has a significant role in the observed price differences.
