Division of household labor: facts and judgements

Article Abstract:

An analysis on the division of household labor between partners based on the date of the International Social Justice Project of 1990 featuring comparison on the division of household labor in Russia, Japan, US and the Netherlands. In the US and the Netherlands, economic variables play a substantial influence on the division of housework but are not in effect in Russia and Japan. An equal distribution of paid and unpaid labor is considered very fair by the majority of the Russian, American and Dutch men and women but not by the Japanese, where fairness increases if the women do all the housework and the men are employed in full time jobs.
