Does the Slovenian public work program increase participants' chances to find a job?

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the influence of the Slovenian public works program on the employability of workers from 1992 to 1996. Data from the National Employment Office of Slovenia were utilized to carry out the analysis. Results indicated that a number of exits to employment correlated with the conversion of public job positions into permanent ones. Findings also showed that public works minimize the exit rate to unemployment.
