Economics and the architecture of popular music

Article Abstract:

A study focusing on the major regime changes in the music industry reveals that economic forces affect the characteristics of popular music and the competitive market strategy. The study utilized simple supply and demand equations to indicate the patterns in popular music over the sample period. Market structure, technological factors and the flow of demands are proven to cause an impact on musical characteristics. Results have shown that economics and music are closely related.
