Egypt's new investment law

Article Abstract:

Egypt introduced an investment law called the Investment Incentives and Guarantees Law which seeks to create a better investment climate in the country. The law, which was signed by President Hosni Mubarak on May 11, 1997, contains provisions that give better incentives to investors and is expected to accelerate the urbanization of Egypt. The law terminates all but part 3 of article 20 of Investment Law 230 of 1989 which allows employees to receive money based on an annual distribution of not less than 10% of profits made by employers. Some of the provisions of the law includes assurance against discrimination and illegal confiscation.
