Foreign investment, reparations and the proposal for an international bank: notes on the lectures of JM Keynes in Geneva, July 1929

Article Abstract:

JM Keynes was in demand as an adviser on economic policy in the 1920s and 1930s. He lectured to the Geneva School of Intrnational Studies in 1929, and this work provides evidence of an intellectual link between economists in contemporary international agencies, and Kyenes's own work. The lectures were largely based on 'A Treatise on Money', though sme points that were later developed in Keynes' 'General Theory' were also covered. Topics tackled by Keynes included reparations and plans to set up an international bank.

Keynes on probability and statistical inference and the links to Fisher

Article Abstract:

The effect ofthe opinion of John Maynard Keynes on probability and statistical inference on the works of statistician R.A. Fisher is substantial despite the sceptical attitude adopted by Keynes against the science. In particular, elements included in Keynes's 'Treatise on Probability' on rational belief appear in Fisher's works. Fisherian approaches to statistics are widely used by modern scholars and manifests more apparently the ideas of Keynes than Bayesian models.
