The Futility of Forecasting

Long range forecasting is very risky. Examples are given. A table gives figures of forecasts in specific industries as well as population, showing margin of error. Reasons for errors are analyzed. Some precautions in considering forecasts are suggested. One table shows the track record of forecasts of metal production.
