Industry classification and the capital structure of Ghanaian SMEs

Article Abstract:

The effect of industry classification on the capital structure of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana is examined using a regression framework, having various capital structures as dependent variables and the industry as the independent variable. Results showed that SMEs in the agricultural sector display the highest capital and asset structures. Details of the results in the information and communication, manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, and construction and mining industries are also presented.
