Article Abstract:

A major reorganization of the British military research and development system is being initiated. Several of the primary re-groupings are mentioned. A substantial amount of development work will be allocated to private companies. Joint Nato development ventures are recommended. However, examples are given of overlap and duplication of efforts.

Capital flows from rich to developing countries were down in 1982. The big loss was in bank loans. A graph illustrates capital flows from bank lending, concessional aid and others.

Article Abstract:

Agricultural research may have found a way to stop take-all, a soil fungus. Take-all produces a substance which can be turned against itself. Previously, only crop rotation worked.
