Linking IT planning to business strategy

Article Abstract:

The use of information technology (IT) should be developed alongside business strategy if it is to be appreciated by senior managers. IT workshops should be integrated into corporate planning sessions wherein business goals, organizational linkages and competitive market forces are dealt with. These workshops can result in improved IT system planning as well as an understanding of the strategic needs of the business.

The rule of 2 x 2

Article Abstract:

Corporate planning concepts are often explained with the use of 2 x 2 arrays, the simplest form of array on which the value of variables can be plotted on each of the axes. Some kind of progression is implied by the axes, making the array a simple two-dimensional graph divided into regions. The popularity of 2 x 2 arrays can be attributed to its simplicity, compared to the more complex three-dimensional arrays.
