Management and acting 'beyond the call of duty.'(history of Czechoslovakia illustrates conflict between ethics and realistic crisis management strategies)

Article Abstract:

The recent history of Czechoslovakia, as related by Czech Republic Pres Vaclav Havel, is used to illustrate the conflict between ethics and realistic strategies for dealing with crises. The historical record, in which leaders chose a realistic alternative over heroism, is extrapolated onto corporate management.

Is business ethics philosophy or sophism?

Article Abstract:

The arguments of Socrates are considered to determine whether the field of business ethics truly is philosophically sound or merely sophistry, a false philosophy offering insupportable conclusions. The author concludes that business ethics is not sophistry but is vulnerable to that charge.

Small firm environmental ethics: how deep do they go?

Article Abstract:

The author examines what environmental ethics mean for small firms by looking at the conventional approach to ecological principles and a new approach based on ecological principles. Results indicate most firms follow the conventional approach.
