Management - key to new product development in biotechnology

Article Abstract:

Rapid and popular product development results in an effective firm with long-term prospects. The research focuses on 5 Canadian medical biotechnology firms and the reasons behind their effectiveness. Firms who are successful are usually led by an innovated businessman who provides continuous leadership encouraging good management teams. Managers who focus on innovative considerations are able to manage external contexts well, develop core activities and focus on resource development and conservation. Good product market strategy is the key to successful product development.

Concurrent product development for fast-track corporations

Article Abstract:

The product development process is dissected in the context of the pressing need for fast-track firms to turn out products that are market-oriented. Three alternative approaches to product development are described, although the different ways by which organizations can integrate their product development efforts are also analyzed. These are hardware-based integration, humanware-based integration and software-based integration.

Technical-market research - get customers to collaborate in developing products

Article Abstract:

A new approach to the innovation process, technical market research, involves the customer's collaboration in developing new products. Some of the benefits to be derived from this novel approach are increased quality, decreased costs and a faster cycle time for introducing new products. Integrating customers in the innovation process can also significantly foster total customer satisfaction.
