Military spending as a burden of growth: an 'underconsumptionist' critique

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the US economic performance which considers military spending of the dominant economy prior to growth experience in the post-war period is conducted. Results indicate that military programs are not necessary to minimizing unemployment and achieving good economic performance. Under the underconsumptionist approach which works under the principle of effective demand, military spending can be considered in the capitalist economy as a burden on growth.
